In regards to my project the media has played a role toward relationships because they make things look so good and they want people to copy them. They make it seem like the man is supposed to be in control in the relationships and they make the girls think that they are all supposed to look like music video type of girls. The media has dehumanized relationships because they want everybody to do what they see that happening in the media. Then nobody would get a chance to be themselves. This topic is important to me because I am in a relationship and I try my hardest to be myself at all times. This has affected lives because peoples relationships are not real they're based on the media, they do what they see and some don't know that they are dehumanizing themselves. I see my images changing the way people think about relationships because they know that it is something to take serious and be themselves and be real about it. Things will start to change in peoples relationships for the good or bad, but they will realize how bad the media affected their relationships. The quote from Paulo Friere's "Pedagogy of the Oppressed" addresses the situation of dehumanization and the quest for liberation within relationships because it is saying that their vision of the new man or woman is individualistic because of their identification with the oppressor they have no consciousness as themselves as persons or as members of an oppressed class. They should realize who they are as people. Prove to the media that they are wrong and not all people are what they are seen to be in the media and not all people want to be like people in the media.
